For ten bucks, though, it's not a major risk. The SCA 2.2.2 architecture has achieved significant success in the military-communications market. I've maybe used it twice in the last five years, and I don't recommend it if you can just as easily use FD or any other software on your laptop. Slow, laggy, crashed a lot, and I personally hate touch screens while writing. Issue is that it's not easy to use and drove me up the wall. It lets you use any file that you would on a Desktop/Laptop and edit on your phone or iPad, and it has the major screenwriting features (doesn't have a lot of the newer ones). Either 30 or 50 dollars because I was having computer issues. If you're still something of an amateur, however, they're not wrong: a lot of programs do the same thing, albeit not as well, and nobody is going to blink twice when they see a PDF anyhow.Īs far as the mobile APP goes, I purchased it when it was more money. While a lot of writers around here will tell you that Final Draft isn't worth it, almost every professional studio job I had has required it, so it's not a terrible investment if you have the money (and you really don't need to update unless necessary I had FD 8 for nearly eight years before upgrading). I’ll also get an external hard drive cuz I need it.įinal Draft doesn't take up all that much space, honestly, so I'm not sure if that should be a huge problem. Since I don’t think I’ll be getting a professional job anytime soon, I just went ahead and got the app on my iPad, and when I get the opportunity to write professionally I’ll go ahead and download the OS. Thank you to everyone who commented with their experiences with both the desktop and app version of FD as well as your advice. What’s the catch? I know writing on an iPad is less than desirable but I can suck it up for $189.Ĭan someone please provide some guidance? “The App Store version and the regular retail version are identical only the method of delivery to the customer is different”. I do have an iPad with keyboard that works relatively fine so I thought this may be a good alternative.Īccording to the Final Draft Support site Now before I go and try to clear up space on my laptop I came across the Final Draft mobile app. When I went to purchase it on my MacBook it appears you need a certain amount of space available that I don’t believe I have. I’ve been using Celtx but I think it’s time for me to move on to the industry standard program. So I’m trying to figure out how I should go about getting the Final Draft software.
